Joyce Matthews Spigner

Joyce Matthews Spigner, 77, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Alvin Leroy Spigner, Jr. entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 24, 2021. Her memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

Joyce was born March 21, 1944 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Harry Carroll Matthews and the late Laurel McDaniel Matthews. She graduated from Garrett High School and was married in 1970. She retired from the SC Department of Revenue after 30 plus years of service and also worked as a receptionist with Atlantic Respiratory. She was an avid Shag dancer and loved watching her grandchildren play baseball and cheer leading. Joyce loved Hallmark Christmas movies and watched all year. She was a loyal wife, grandmother and aunt. She was smart and sassy for a woman of small stature.

She is survived by her husband, Alvin Spigner; two sons, Kevin "Brent" Spigner and Clay Spigner all of North Charleston, SC; three grandchildren: Dominique Spigner, Tyler Spigner and Jaylah Spigner; two great-grandchildren, Avery Campbell and Ryleigh Campbell; brother, Robert Matthews; two nieces, Jessica McAlhany and Tika and her sons, Cade and Campbell; two nephews, Trey and his sons, Quinn and Qvade; Travis and his daughters, Riley and Skylar.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Matthews and her sister, Brenda McAlhany.
