Joyce Patrick Mccaskill

November 29, 1934 — November 28, 2010

Joyce Patrick McCaskill, 75, of Charleston passed away Sunday, November 28, at her home.  Her sudden passing has had a profound effect on her family and friends.  She was born in Summerville, SC on November 29, 1934, the daughter of Simon Peter Patrick and Virginia Joyce Murray Patrick and was the wife for 57 years of the late Neil McCaskill, Jr., who was an executive on the Charleston waterfront for many years.  Joyce was loved by everyone she knew and had countless family, friends, and loved ones on whom she made a tremendous impact by her unwavering faith in Christ Jesus, and her undying love for her family and friends.  She was never too busy to help someone in need and lived her faith through the many goods works she performed. Along with her husband, she was a member of the Distinguished President's Club at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary which established a scholarship fund for needy seminary students.  She also faithfully supported many educational institutions with the state of South Carolina, and faithfully gave to support the local SCPA.

The relatives and friends of Joyce Patrick McCaskill are invited to attend her funeral service Thursday, December 2, 2010 in Ashley River Baptist Church at one o'clock.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends today at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL from four until seven o'clock and Thursday at the church from noon until time of service.

She leaves three children, Glen Alan McCaskill of Charleston: Cynthia Gail McCaskill DuPuis and her husband Audie of Conway, S.C.; and Rev. Kenneth McCaskill and his wife Susan of Walterboro, S.C.   She also adored her five grandchildren who were the light of her life: Kacie Dawn DuPuis of New York, NY, Katherine Joy DuPuis of Conway, SC; Morgan Elaine McCaskill, Andrew Patrick McCaskill, and Macie Elizabeth McCaskill, all of Walterboro, S.C.  She has one sister, Barbara Dell Perdue, of Bloomington, Indiana, and an aunt Jewel Murray Meyers of Summerville, SC.  She was raised in Knightsville, SC and was the beneficiary of a wonderful extended family whose faith and values shaped the woman she would become.  Those with whom she now enjoys felllowship in the presence of God include: maternal grandparents Joseph Gordon and Sophronia Murray; paternal grandparents Jacob Joshua and Susanna Tomblin Patrick; her beloved  Aunt Mary and Uncle Bud Campbell; Aunt Lousie Ross, Aunt Kressie Knight, Uncle Leon, Uncle Gordon Jr.  Among those who remain and will miss her tremendously include cousins-sisters Vivian Knight Newell, Joanne Weber, brothers and sister in law whom she dearly loved, and special church friends Dorothy Moore, Adel Tetrich, and countless others with who she served on the Hospitality, Historical, and Counting Committees, and served for over 50 years teaching two-year-old preschoolers through Ashley River Baptist Church.  Many speak of their faith.  Others are an example of their faith.  Her actions were daily examples of the relationship she had with Jesus Christ, with whom she now spends eternity.

Memorial may be made to Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC  29407 or Pine Grove Baptist Church No. 1, 99 Pine Grove Road, Walterboro, SC  29488 or Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC  29406.
