Joyce Peterson May

Joyce Peterson May, 77, wife of William "Bill" J. May of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010.  The relatives and friends of Joyce May are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Sunday, September 19, 2010 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Mrs. May was born July 11, 1933 in Alcolu, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late John Earl Perry and Lois Elizabeth Causey Perry.  She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends.  No heart had the capacity to love everyone and everything unrestrained as Mrs. May did. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She is survived by her husband of 26 years, William "Bill" May of Mt. Pleasant, SC;  daughter, Deborah Canter of Tega Cay, SC; two step-daughters, Kathryn Peterson of Memphis, TN and Beth Shoaf of Harrisburg, NC; two sisters, Jeannine Keys of Parkville, MD and Esther Sinkhorn and her husband, John Lee Sinkhorn, of Lumberton, NC; six grandchildren, Lorraine O'Brien, Leanne Scaccia, Kathryn Barrineau, Richard Peterson, III, Sarah Shoaf and Addison Shoaf; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Richard Peterson, Jr. and John (Peterson) Perry II. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or First United Methodist Church of Isle of Palms, 12 21^st Avenue, Isle of Palms, SC
