Joyce Juanita Chandler Gibson, 85, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, wife of the late Bobby Thomas Gibson peacefully returned to her Heavenly Home Sunday, July 13, 2025. Her sweet spirit and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Joyce was born January 27, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, the oldest of five daughters of the late James Woodrow Chandler and the late Ruth Juanita Crosby Chandler. She was a devoted and faithful member, in good standing, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Lord, and her Christian faith was her highest priority. When her health was better, she served as a teacher of Primary Children and later as a Compassionate Service Leader in the Relief Society Women’s organization. Joyce, owned and operated a local LDS Church bookstore in the West Ashley area and years before that, owned and operated a women’s hair salon in Goose Creek. Other than her relationship with the Lord, nothing was more important to her than family and genealogical research.
She is survived by her children: Larry P. Weatherford, Jr. (Kathy) of Goose Creek, SC, James Robert Weatherford (Melissa) of Goose Creek, SC, and Alan Eugene Weatherford (Tawnya) of Hanahan, SC; grandchildren: Mike Nyalko (Rebekah), Tana Weatherford, Chris Weatherford (Amy), Kela Weatherford (Stu), Daniel Weatherford, Ashley Mitchell (Parker), Matthew Weatherford (Kristin), Shawny Weatherford (Travis), Kailyn Weatherford and Reagan Weatherford; great grandchildren: Michael Nyalko, Nate Nyalko, Preston Weatherford, Jacob Vacca, Alexis Truluck, Jared Truluck (Halle), Damien Truluck, Nathaniel Weatherford, Aidin Mitchell, Shawn Mitchell, Ruby Weatherford, Gibson Weatherford and Kingston Postell; great great grandchildren: Grayson Weatherford, Oliver Truluck and Clover Truluck; siblings: Jean Tucker, Jackie Jameson (Bobby) and Beverly Stelly; and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Judy Towne.
