Joyce Marleen Donaldson, 76, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late CMSGT Samuel Townley Donaldson, Jr., USAF (Ret.) died Thursday, November 15, 2018. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Boulevard at 10:30 am. The family will receive friends Tuesday in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm.
Joyce was born March 5, 1942 in Sylvan Beach, New York, daughter of the late Homer Hilliker and Martha Jones Hilliker. After high school she worked in civil service, before becoming a full-time Mom to her two children. During that time, she and her husband built a mountain home in Georgia. Joyce was a "Jill of all Trades", eventually teaming up with her best friend, Arlette Wright, to start a professional wallpaper business, which they managed for 18 years. In Mount Pleasant she was an active member of Hibben United Methodist Church, and enjoyed hummingbirds, HGTV, and all types of music.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Donaldson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Candi Huge (Chris) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, Brian Holbrook, Christopher Holbrook (Mary-Cait), Sarah Doll, Evan Dopson, and Corey Dopson; her sister, Shirley Strong; and brother-in-law, Robert Williams. She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel T. Donaldson, III; her sisters Audrey Kinney and Patricia Williams; her brothers, Harold, Donald, Norman, and Edmund Hilliker; her brothers-in-law, Gilbert Strong and Robert Crowley, and her sister-in-law, Sydney Crowley.
