Joseph Robertson Trott

Joseph Robertson "Jody" Trott, III, 58, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Susan Davis Trott entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 27, 2012. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 in St. James Episcopal Church, 1872 Camp Road, 2:00 p.m. Interment, private.

Jody was born October 6, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of Joseph Robertson Trott, Jr. and Mary Boatwright Trott, Jr. He attended the High School of Charleston and graduated from Limestone College. He worked as a special education teacher for the Charleston County School District for 33 years. He spent a large part of his career teaching students with autism. He donated his time to organizations like Special Olympics, Camp Good Times, Ronald McDonald House, Extraordinary Art Exhibit, Odyssey of the Mind and others. His students and co-workers were an important part of his life. He was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and proudly served for 28 years. Jody was a veteran of Desert Storm and traveled the world to places like Germany, England, Spain, Qater, Saudi Arabia, the Azores and Hawaii with the 38th Aerial Ports Squadron at Charleston Air Force Base He loved the water, boats, fishing, seafood and old trucks. He was a regular at the James Island County Dog Park and was devoted to the family dogs. He spent many happy hours exploring and researching his beloved home town and serving as the family tour guide. He lived a life of service and dedication to others especially those with disabilities. He was a true Charlestonian.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years; daughters, Marguerite (John) McConnell and Hannah Trott, both of Charleston, SC; sister, Marcy Trott Hawley of Jonesborough, TN; cousin, C.B. Branan of Charleston, SC and nieces and nephews.The family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Hollings Cancer Center and MUSC for their outstanding care.
