Joseph Hill Simms, 85, widower of Milan Sarah Simms of Hanahan, SC, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road at 11:00 am. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel.

Mr. Simms was born February 24, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas, son of James W. Simms and Stella Mae Higgins Simms. He was an Army veteran and retired as a Planner and Estimator from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughters, Julia Ann Simms and Myra Huckabee and her husband Tom all of Summerville, SC, longtime friends, Teresa Fowler and family and the wonderful caregivers of The Cypress House and Heartland Hospice. He has one grandson, Airman 1st Class Adam T. Huckabee and his wife Jessica of Spokane, WA.
