Joseph Edward Polk, Jr., 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Mary Lowry Polk entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 20, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in Stuhr's Downtown Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Joseph was born March 23, 1926 in Holly Hill, South Carolina, son of Joseph Edward Polk and Louie Belle Hughes Polk. He was a retired machinist from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, a member of American Legion Post #147, and the Charleston Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his two sons, Joey Polk and Eddie Polk (Susan) both of Johns Island; two daughters, Beth Lowry Tuk (Freddy) of Ridgeway; Christine Polk Clayton (Richard) of James Island; a sister, Doris Polk Killingsworth; eight grandchildren: Tamara Polk Bartlett (Riley); Ashley Polk Murray (Tradd), Robert Polk, Rick Tuk (Jenny), Becky Tuk Kemp (Paul), Joey Tuk (Sunday), Lauren Clayton Kiker (Nathan), Tyler Clayton, and seven great-grandchildren: Wolfie Tuk, Leo Tuk, Bella Tuk, Allyssa Kemp, Mattie Kemp, Peyton Grace Tuk, and Josiah Bartlett.
Joseph was predeceased by his brother, Laurie H. Polk.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
