Joseph Franklin Mole, Jr. , 84, of Edisto Beach, South Carolina, husband of Annette Kinard Mole entered into eternal rest Monday, April 10, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Edisto Island United Methodist Church, 8193 Palmetto Road at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service in Live Oak Cemetery, Walterboro, SC at 12:15 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Joe was born August 8, 1932 in Walterboro, SC, son of the late Joseph Franklin Mole and Maybell Fairey Mole. He was a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology and a U.S. Army Officer. Joe was a retired Chemical Engineer with Westvaco Paper Company. He was a former Rotarian, member of Lambda Chi Alpha, and charter member of both Grace United Methodist Church and Edisto Island United Methodist Church.Joe was an avid Georgia Tech fan, enthusiastic genealogist, and world traveler. From the time of his childhood, Joe loved Edisto Beach and was privileged to serve as Chair of Town of Edisto Beach Planning Commission.
He is survived by his Wife of 62 years, Annette Mole of Edisto Beach, SC; two daughters, Laura Mole Rotta (Steve), Amanda L. Mole (Carl Fosseen) both of Charleston, SC; sister, Claudia Myers (David) of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Cal Fosseen, Maggie Rotta, and Melanie Rotta.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edisto Island United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8193 Palmetto Road, Edisto Island, SC 29438 and Epworth Children's Home, 2900 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205.
