Joseph was born on December 28, 1970 in Smithtown, New York, son of Joseph Alexander Mikolajczyk II and Phyllis Leifer Mikolajczyk. He was raised in South Florida and Nebraska. After graduating from Fort Calhoun High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1990-1999. He enjoyed his comradery with his Navy brothers serving on the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team and working with training dolphins to retrieve ordinance. He was extremely proud of his work protecting President Clinton and actually flew on Air Force One. Joe was tasked to inspect a saxophone that was gifted to the President. He later went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska. He went on to work for the government as a computer engineer until his recent retirement in September 2025.

Joe was a number and gadget guy and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, hiking, running, and solving his Rubik’s cube. He enjoyed time with his F3 and Bible study groups. He was a servant in the kitchen and provided men’s breakfast for a large group. Joe even won an award for his famous BBQ ribs.

He and his wife Kelly, met at church in and married in 2009. God blessed them with their three wonderful sons. He was very proud of his family and loved his boys very much. He cherished traveling, camping and boating with them. He especially loved to take the family on cruises. He was very fond of just staying home and playing board games and cards with his family.

He relied on God’s grace and mercy and would want everyone to have a saving relationship with Christ. He would want everyone to know how easy it is to accept the gift of eternal life.

A-Admit to God that you’re a sinner and ask for forgiveness of your sins (1 John 1:9-If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.)

B- Believe that Jesus is the son of God, sent from our Creator Father to save us by dying for us on the cross for our sins (John 3:16-For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.

C- Confess your faith that Jesus Christ is your Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9-That if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Through his suffering and battle with cancer, he sought after God’s will and trusted Him. The Lord brought him home and made him whole in heaven. We are certain he is now dancing and running on the streets of gold. He was ready to leave this world and go home to our Savior’s arms and was prepared to live in eternity.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Kelly Ann Mikolajczyk, and sons, Jacob Mikolajczyk, Caden Mikolajczyk, and Trevor Mikolajczyk, all of Mount Pleasant, SC; his mother, Phyllis Mikolajczyk; and his sisters, Debbie (Keith) Carmack of Clairmont, FL, Karen (Joe) Mika of Milford, DE, Lisa Mikolajczyk of Orlando, FL, and Sharon (Keith) Pohl of Omaha, NE. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Alexander Mikolajczyk II.

Joe had written, “If anyone asks how I want to be remembered, please say the following about me. He loved Jesus and serving others. He sought God’s will, He trusted God and relied on his direction, his grace and mercy.”
