Joseph Sampson McCandless

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 8, 2011, Joseph Sampson McCandless, Sr. husband of Patricia Louise Pitts McCandless.  Residence, Goose Creek, SC. A private graveside service will be held in Beaufort National Cemetery, Monday, September 12, 2011.

Mr. McCandless was born October 17, 1928 in Oxford, Mississippi, the son of John S. McCandless and Lillian Wilkes McCandless. He retired after 26 years of service with the United States Air Force as Senior Master Sergeant and was a World War II veteran. He also retired after twenty years as the Manager of The Hibernian Society.

He is survived by his wife of Goose Creek, SC; four sons: Joseph S. McCandless, Jr. (Kathy) of El Paso, TX; Gary Lee McCandless of Charleston, SC, John Mark McCandless (Beth) of Charleston, SC and D. Scott McCandless of Charleston, SC; one daughter: Lynda M. McCandless of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren: Georganne Fortune (Skip), Shawn McCandless (Dianne), Jonathan Hart McCandless, Paige Marie McCandless and Lyndsay Louise Golden.
