Joseph Andrew DeWald, 56, husband of Bonnie Tetro DeWald, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday evening, September 28th after a long illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 3, 2014 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail. Interment will be private. The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.
Joseph was born on May 27th, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Andrew Joseph DeWald and Eleanor Gillis DeWald. Joe graduated from Father Judge Catholic School in Philadelphia in 1976. After high school, Joe joined the USAF and was stationed at Wheeler AFB in Hawaii. While in the Air Force, Joe received his Bachelor's Degree in Business at Chaminade University.
Joe started his retail career at Radio Shack and then went on to work at Best Buy and Circuit City. As a General Manager at Best Buy, Joe opened many new stores in Spartanburg, SC, Chicago, IL, Newington, CT, Columbia, MD, and Mount Vernon, NY. After leaving Best Buy, Joe was recruited to become the Company Director of Retail Sales for ELDORADO Company (one of the largest electronics home retailer) in Moscow, Russia. Joe directed sales strategies and supervised field support teams: 11 Region Sales Directors, 54 Division Directors and 522 Store Sales Directors at 500 locations throughout Russia and Ukraine. Upon returning to the U.S, Joe finished his career at CVS.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Tetro DeWald; two children, Julian Kiel DeWald of Lexington, Kentucky, and Kaitlin Margaret Mitchell of Sarasota, Florida. Two sisters, Katherin Weiss (Hermann) of Dacula, Georgia and Andrea Cannone (Andrew) of Philadelphia, PA. Two nieces, Kimberly Weiss Taylor of Alpharetta, GA and family James, Quinlan, and Izabella Taylor, Nicole Wilson of Philadelphia, PA and one nephew, Andrew Cannone, Jr., of Philadelphia, PA. Two beautiful grandchildren, Ciara Marie Dallas of Sarasota, FL and Naomie Renee DeWald of Lexington, KY.
The family would like to thank Agape Hospice for their care and support especially Libby Young for her endless dedication.
