Joseph A Galasso died on November 16, 2014 at Life Care Center of Charleston. He was 84 and lived in the Elms of Charleston. Mr. Galasso was born August 9, 1930 in Connellsville, PA. He enlisted and served as an Aviation Electronic Technician in the US Navy during the Korean War. After discharge from the Navy he returned to Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelors Degree in English from Washington and Jefferson College.
Mr. Galasso was a writer for PPG in Pittsburgh and for Westinghouse Electric Corporation where he served as a technical writer for over 35 years. An accomplished musician from a young age, Mr. Galasso played the trumpet in several regional bands and orchestras. He considered himself a perpetual student of the horn, studying the methods of the most noted players and developing a personal style. In later years, he performed with local musicians in special events.
Mr. Galasso is survived by his wife of 13 years, Agnes Eassy Galasso; and three sons, Joseph Jr, Martin and Michael; a daughter, Lisa Holley; grandchildren: Jarrod, Christina, Lauren, Danielle, Giavanna; and a sister Carmalee (Gustav) Gursc. He was predeceased by one son, David; a brother, Frank; a sister, Loretta; and his parents, Joseph & Elizabeth Galasso.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 510 St. James Ave, Goose Creek, SC on Wednesday, November 19 at 11:00 am preceded by visitation at the Church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel.
