Joseph Turner Dixon, 97, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Bernice Irene Palmer Dixon entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 23, 2017. The family will receive friends Friday, May 26, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island.
Joseph was born April 27, 1920 in Ochlocknee, Georgia, son of the late Joseph Iowa Dixon and Ethel Eliza Carter Dixon. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a retired Quality Assurance Production Controller with The Charleston Naval Shipyard.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Baxley (Reggie), two sons, Lee Roy Dixon (JoAnn), and Don Joseph Dixon (Sherry) all of Charleston, SC; ten grandchildren, Merritt Pierce, Michael Dixon, Matthew Dixon, Michelle Beasenburg, Brian Dixon, Melissa Gallego, Irene Weeks, Deborah Waters, Alison Dixon, Charles Dixon, step-grandchildren, Melisa Cheshier, Eddie Bath, Connie Lanier; 25 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
