Entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 7, 2010, Joseph William Curtis, Jr., widower of Betty June Drinnen Curtis.  Residence, Summerville, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 am at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTH AREA CHAPEL. Friends may call at Stuhr's one hour prior to the service. The burial will be private.


Mr. Curtis was born October 29, 1935 in Charleston, SC, the son of Joseph William Curtis, Sr. and Sally O'Rear "Sadie" Curtis.  He was a former Police Sergeant for the Charleston City Police Department Auxiliary and was a Mason.  He served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Curtis was an Electronics Technician with Shop #57, at the Charleston Naval Shipyard for 29 years.


He is survived by three sons: David Curtis of Cameron, SC, Joseph W. Curtis, III Goldsboro, NC, and Lawrence Curtis, Sr., of Santee, SC; three daughters: Tamya Curtis of North Charleston, SC, Cynthia Curtis of Summerville, SC, and Annette Curtis of Summerville, SC; three sisters: Genic C. Whetsell of Hanahan, SC, Patricia Curtis Miles of Goose Creek, SC, and Patricia Ramsey Barrineau of Hanahan, SC; one brother: Mark Joseph Curtis of Charleston, SC; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
