Jose Baluyot Banzon

June 19, 1939 — July 6, 2010

Jose "Joe" Banzon entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of July 6, 2010, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, SC after an extended battle with lung cancer.  His relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, Saturday, July 10, 2010, between five o'clock and seven o'clock.  A rosary prayer  will be conducted at six o'clock.  Friends may call the Chapel on Friday, between nine and five o'clock for details.  Joe will return to the Philippines, accompanied with his family, for full funeral services in the middle of this month.

Joe was born 19 June 1939 in Abucay, Bataan, Philippines the son of Nicasio and Caridad Banzon.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran with over 20 years of active service.  Joe also worked as the food manager in the Omar Temple downtown, as a supply specialist at the Naval Supply Center and finally as a greens keeper for the Charleston Air Force Base golf course.  He enjoyed fishing, reading, watching movies, time with friends but most of all spending time with his family and foremost playing with his grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife Leticia Dominguez Banzon of North Charleston, SC; son, Roy D. Banzon and his wife Marlyn of Camp Walker, South Korea; daughter, Rosielynn B. Fox and her husband, Rick Fox of Kennett Square, PA; daughter, Rochelle B. Schleier and her husband Mark Schleier of Mt Pleasant, SC; grandchildren: Ryan, Michelle and Nicasio Banzon, and Alicia Fox.

Joe loved unconditionally and his generosity knew no bounds.  The love he showed his family was shared with everyone he met or encountered.   He always knew how to make you laugh, even during trying times. This was Joe's gift - an example of Christianity which was instilled in all who knew him.  He always provided comfort and a helping hand to his family and friends and never judged or excluded them.  His love has nurtured the success of his children and grandchildren and will continue for generations to come.  Joe's love will truly be missed by all.  We miss you Dad, and we know that you will always be with us.
