Jon Guerry Taylor, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on August 31, 2025, and has been deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born November 8, 1939, in Columbia, South Carolina, Guerry was the son of the late Edward “Ed” Taylor and Sadie Sessions Taylor. After completing basic training in the United States Army, he attended the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He went on to enjoy a successful career as an engineer, proudly owning and operating his own firm, JGT and Associates, for 30 years. He later successfully passed the business on, and it continues to operate today as a lasting part of his professional legacy.

Guerry’s life was grounded in faith, service, and devotion to his family. A longtime member of Hibben United Methodist Church, he served as a lay minister and led Bible studies, walking alongside others in their spiritual journeys with kindness and conviction.

He is survived by his two daughters, Dr. Sally Price of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Joy Orlando of Davenport, Florida. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Faye Taylor; his son, Jon Guerry Taylor, Jr.; and his parents, Edward and Sadie Taylor.

A memorial service celebrating Guerry’s life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
