Johnny Raye Freeman, 68, of Hollywood, SC, husband of Martha Limbaker Freeman, died Monday, February 13, 2017. His memorial service will be held Friday, February 17, 2017, in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
Johnny was born May 8, 1948 in Hampton County, SC, son of the late Ernest E. Freeman and Marlyn Altman Freeman Ward. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired engineer for the South Carolina Public Railway Commission. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Martha; son, Robert M. Freeman of Hollywood, SC; daughter, Karen E. Freeman of Hollywood, SC; his step-mother who loved and raised him, Joann Freeman; brother, Gerald L. Freeman; three sisters: Redonna Freeman Lynn, Elizabeth Freeman Butler (Jack), and Jean Ward Thomas (Len); and two grandchildren: Kathryn Matthews (fiancee and extra grandchild, Jay Henggeler), and James A. Matthews III. He was preceded in death my a brother, James E. Freeman; and six half-siblings.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
