Johnnie "Bobbie" Brown Blackburn, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Howard Blackburn, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 29, 2013.
Her Funeral Service will be Friday, November 1, 2013, in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, in J. HENRY STUHR, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Johnnie was born October 21, 1931, in Avery, GA, a daughter of the late Charles C. Brown and Ethel Anderson Brown. She was the valedictorian of Avery High School and a member of the Beta Club. She was a college graduate. Johnnie was a past member of the Charleston Yacht Club Auxiliary. She was the first Office Manager for James Island Public Service District and retired as an Administrator with Atlantic Brokerage Company, Inc. Johnnie was a loving wife, momma and incredible "grandmommie" to her family. She will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years of Charleston, SC; daughter, Robin B. Richbourg of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, April Laurie Blackburn, Charleston, SC, Dr. Matthew Lynn Blackburn, Brooklyn, NY, Christen Melissa Richbourg, Charleston, SC, Benjamin Joshua Richbourg, Charleston, SC and Olivia Rebecca Richbourg, Clemson, SC; two sisters, Ann Elizabeth Stankiewicz, Colonia, NJ and Betty Jean Brown McGahee of Stapleton, GA; a brother, James Paul Brown. Johnnie was predeceased by her son, Lynn Blackburn, daughter-in-law, Pamela Blackburn and grandchildren, Jonathan and Martha Blackburn and a brother, Charles C. Brown, Jr.
