John Seabrook Whaley

April 8, 1950 — December 8, 2017

John Seabrook Whaley, Jr. 67, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Heidi Speissegger Whaley, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 8, 2017. His Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, the family will receive friends in Molly Wier Hall. A Private Burial will be held at St. John's Parish Churchyard, Johns Island. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.

John was born April 8, 1950 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of John Seabrook Whaley and Mary Mikell Townsend Whaley. He graduated from the College of Charleston and University of South Carolina School of Law and was an attorney at law. John was a member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, St. Andrew's Society, South Carolina Society, St. Cecilia Society, Agricultural Society of South Carolina, and the Carolina Yacht Club.

In addition to his loving wife, Heidi, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Legare Chamberlain Whaley and a son, John Seabrook Whaley, III both of Charleston; and two sisters, Ellen Whaley Stevens of Sumter and Susan Whaley Hanckel (Bill) of Wadmalaw Island. He is predeceased by his brother, Charles Townsend Whaley.
