John F. Waters, 72, of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, husband of Marie Creech Waters died Wednesday, May 13, 2015. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary service beginning at 6:30 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.
Johnny was born August 23, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was the son of Thelma Wurthmann Arnold. John was a graduate of Bishop England High School and retired as a supervisor from General Electric. He was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. John was a past president of James Island Optimist Club. He spent many years coaching youth sports in the Charleston Area.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie of 53 years; daughter, Patricia Waters Henebery (Larry) of Wadmalaw Island, SC; two sons: John F. Waters, Jr. (Pam) of James Island, SC and James C. Waters (Jane) of Lexington, SC; nine grandchildren: Eva Marie, Cody, Nick, J.T., Conley, Ben, Mary Katherine, Jordan, and Hannah Grace; two great-grandchildren: Bentley and Hogan; and two aunts: Laurentia "Skipper" Wurthmann and Barbara Wurthmann McElrath.
