John Allen Turner, 73, of Mount Pleasant, SC, husband of Connie McCoy Turner went to be with our Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019 after a brief illness.
Allen was born October 8, 1945 in Greenville County, SC, son of the late Johnnie Floyd Turner and the late Essie Shead Turner. Allen was a United States Army veteran and retired as a warehouse manager for Duke Power Company.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Connie M. Turner of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Amiee Slesinski (Stephen) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Ashley Austin (Rich) of Woodstock, GA; brother, Gary Earl Turner (Jime) of Mauldin, SC; sister, Becky Floyd (David) of Easley, SC; two grandsons, Nathaniel Slesinski and Matthew Slesinski; granddaughter, Claire Austin.
In his earlier years, Allen was known for being an exceptional athlete and later was an expert coach to several of his daughters' sports teams. In retirement, Allen continued to avidly follow all things sports, and in particular, his beloved Clemson Tigers. He especially loved watching his grandsons compete in sports, spending much of his time at their games cheering them on or taking them fishing. He also loved spending time with his beloved granddaughter, Claire, who loved her Poppy immensely. He was a true family man and he will be deeply missed.

A memorial service for Allen will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
