John Wayne Thompson, Sr., 84, of Jamestown, SC, widow of Mary R. Thompson, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
John was born May 17, 1936 in Emhouse, Texas, a son of the late John P. Thompson and the late Katie Poarch Thompson.
He is survived by his children, John W. Thompson, Jr. (Kathy) of Jamestown, SC, and Lisa T. Hilton (Thomas) of Charleston, SC, and Denise Watts of Jamestown, SC; his grandchildren, Jessica Weaver (Michael), of Monks Corner, SC, Lori Hilton (Jackson), of Charleston, SC, Stephen Austin Watts, of Jamestown, SC and Adrianne Hilton, of Charleston, SC; his great-granddaughter, Mary Louise Weaver, of Monks Corner, SC.
Our dad was a loving, faithful husband to our mom, Mary Ridgeway Thompson, for 59 years. Together they raised 3 children to whom they taught the values of loving God, working hard, being kind and loving one another. His grandchildren and great-grandchild were the lights of his life and he always loved being with them. He loved his church and worked hard to support it. We will miss him more than words can say!
Memorial contributions may be made to the "Holey" window fund at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, C/O Allen Shuler, 3422 French Santee Rd, Jamestown, SC 29453.
A private "drive-up" graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road.
