John Temple Benton

John Temple Benton, 75, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Susan Saville Benton entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 26, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in the J. HENRY STUHR INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Downtown Chapel.
John was born April 24, 1943 in Houston, Texas, son of the late Fred Fox Benton and Ann Temple Benton. He was a member of the St. Phillip's Church. He retired as a managing partner at Ashley Marina. He graduated from Southern Methodist University.
John was a deeply kind and sweet man known for his funny stories, infectious smile and contagious laugh. He adored and treasured his wife and twin girls. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan especially enjoying college football. Being a grandfather was one his greatest joys, and he loved laughing at stories of his grandson's antics. John was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Saville Benton of Charleston, SC; two daughters; Heather S. Badino (Mike) of Chattanooga, TN, and Holly T. Benton of Charleston, SC; grandson, Benton Badino.
