John Edward Tant

John Edward Tant, 85, of North Charleston, SC, died Monday, October 10, 2011, in Walterboro, SC.

Born March 23, 1926 in Denmark, SC he was the son of Lonnie Tant and Ogreta Mitchell Tant.  He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War and was a Mason.  Mr. Tant was a member of Cooper River Baptist Church.  Mr. Tant was retired from Civil Service having worked at the Naval Supply Center.

He is survived by his son, John E. Tant III and his wife Susan Abelon Tant of North Charleston, SC, daughter, Jewel Lee Dorney and her husband Scott Dorney of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Betty Bell of Charleston, brother, James M. Tant of Chester, SC; grandchildren: Jeffrey Tant, Joshua Tant, Amy Dorney, and Amanda Dorney Moss; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ruth Grubbs Tant and his sister Doris M. Tant.

The funeral service will be held in Cooper River Baptist Church, Friday, October 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at 1:00 PM in Denmark Cemetery, Denmark, SC.  The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road Thursday, October 13, 2011 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
