John was born September 29, 1944 in Drew, Mississippi, son of the late Tom Weston Stribling and Geneva Wilson Stribling. He was a graduate of Strom Thurmond High School and the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1967. He proudly served his country in the South Carolina National Guard and ended his military career as a Second Lieutenant before launching a long and dedicated career as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years.
He was an active member and leader in All Saints Lutheran Church for many years, serving as head usher and member of the Finance Team. He was a lifelong die hard Carolina Gamecock fan and a gifted athlete. He was a long time member of Snee Farm Country Club where he was well known by many for his love of golf and tennis. When it came to sports, his prize accomplishment was winning a golf tournament by shooting a 66 with an injured right hand. But John was most proud of his role as Granddaddy to his precious grandchildren and that is where he truly excelled.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Pat; his son, Kevin Stribling (Elizabeth) of James Island, SC; his step sons, Greg Hutto (Renee’) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jeff Hutto (Jessica) of Mt.
