John Calhoun Simonds

October 14, 1935 — March 18, 2017

John Calhoun Simonds III, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 18, 2017. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 in St. Michael's Church, 71 Broad Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carolina Yacht Club immediately following interment. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

John was born October 14, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John Calhoun Simonds, Jr. and Frances Caroline Rees Simonds. He was a graduate of Yale University and a retired investment manager. John was a member of the Carolina Yacht Club, the Society of Colonial Wars, the Society of the Cincinnati and St. Michael's Church.

John is survived by his brother, Charles R. Simonds of Charleston, SC; his nephews: Charles R. Simonds, Jr. (Deirdre) and Steven K. Sheppard (Kristin); great-nieces: Alexandra Simonds and Carolina Sheppard; and great-nephew, Aaron Sheppard. He was predeceased by his sister, Frances C. Simonds.
