Jack was born March 19, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late William A. Santos and the late Catherine Conlon Santos. He graduated from Bishop England High School and Belmont Abbey College. He served in the United States Army and retired as a Real Estate Appraiser and was a co-founder of Atlantic Appraisers. John was a member of the Hibernian Society, Christ Our King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 704. Jack had three priorities in his life which he followed. These three basic tenants were Faith, Family, and Friends. Jack was a devoted Catholic, and he and Judy sacrificed to send all 6 of their children to Parochial School from Kindergarten through Bishop England High School. Jack was involved with helping to raise funds for the construction of Christ Our King Catholic Church, and he and Judy attended daily Mass for years until his health started to decline. Jack was also a devoted husband and a loving and involved Father and Grandfather. He worked hard to provide for his family, and while he did not give them everything they wanted, he certainly gave them everything they needed. Through his hard work and sacrifice he provided a wonderful role model for his children. Jack was a loyal friend to all who knew him. He cherished friendships and always provided an easy smile and a willing ear. He would always do what he could to help his friends, and he believed it was a responsibility to help those less fortunate.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy F. Santos of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three sons, John J. (Julie) Santos, Jr., Michael B. (Andrea) Santos, and David F. (Ashley) Santos, all of Mount Pleasant, SC; two daughters, Julie S. (Kevin) Christy and Kate S. (Andy) Seay, both of Mount Pleasant, SC; one brother, Gene C. (Yvonne) Santos of James Island, SC; one sister-in-law, Mildred G. Santos of Mount Pleasant, SC; and eleven grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick, Sarah, Meagan, Coleman, Sean, Catherine, Bryce, Anna Kate, Vivian and Rowan. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce William Santos.
