John Carlyle Ross, loving husband and devoted father, stepped into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 22, 2025.
John was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 1, 1946. He served as MORSE INTERCEPT OPERATOR in the United States Air Force from 1965-1968. He then went to work for SCE&G where he retired after 44 years. During this time, he served as a meter reader, then dispatcher, and finished his career as a service representative. John was an accomplished bowler achieving a perfect game of 300, a loyal, yet often disappointed, Gamecock football fan, an enthusiastic follower of the Lady Gamecocks basketball, and an ever so accurate armchair sports commentator. He could frequently be found on the golf course, working in his garden applying what he learned from viewing gardening shows, enjoying his Tuesday and Wednesday coffee clubs, or having breakfast with his retired SCE&G friends.
John and Donna made many memories, whether vacationing or simply playing cards, with their close friends, "the travel buddies". Nothing gave him more satisfaction than spending time with the family that he cherished. He had the honor of being "Pop Pop" to four foster children of which one became his beloved granddaughter.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna, daughter Kristin Sanger (Peter), granddaughter Karissa, brothers William (Gina) and Terry, multiple loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Ric and Harold Ross.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Riverbluff Church, 5421 Riverbluff Pkwy., North Charleston, where he was an active member, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 12:00pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Riverbluff Church or Wounded Warrior Project, would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com
