John James Romagnano

June 24, 1933 — July 19, 2015

USN Ret.Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, John "Lil John" Romagnano of North Charleston, SC, went on eternal patrol on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the age of 82. His memorial service, with military honors, will be held Friday, July 24, 2015, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 2 pm.

John was born in Brooklyn, NY, June 24, 1933, son of the late John C. Romagnano and the late Mildred Gregna Romagnano. John was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. He served on surface vessels, submarines and other vessels. He received many medals and citations. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, honorary member of NY State Troopers Association, honorary member of SC Troopers Association, SC Law Enforcement Officers Association and Fraternal Order of Police. John was also an active South Carolina State Constable for many years... "Sailor Rest Your Oars"

He is survived by his cousin, Michael Portaro of Goose Creek, SC and nieces: Patricia Longstaff of Remsen, NY, Mary E. Spooner of Coxsakie, NY and Monica Romagnano of Mobile AL; nephew, Edward F. Romagnano of NY. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Virginia Perdue Romagnano and brothers: Patrick Romagnano, Joseph Romagnano and Charles Romagnano.

Many thanks to Wilma Browder for taking care of John in his final days and Lou and Pattie Ayende and Dr. Walt Mims for their loyal friendship. Also a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Life Care Center of Charleston.
