John Ernest Riddle, Jr., 75, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Patricia Killingsworth Riddle died Saturday, May 10, 2014. His Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the crypt in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road with full military honors. Arrangements by J. Ernest was born December 4, 1938 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late John Ernest Riddle and Margaret Williams Riddle. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, he retired from the Army National Guard after 21 years of honorable service. He made his career as a banking and finance officers with a variety of banking and savings institutions in Columbia, SC. After leaving Security Federal Savings and Loan, Ernest started VIP Homes in Columbia, SC. After retirement and moving to the Mount Pleasant area, he owned Toy Soldiers of Charleston, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Killingsworth Riddle; his daughter, Catherine Smith and her husband, Brian of North Charleston, SC; his son, Bryan Ernest Riddle of Mount Pleasant, SC; his four grandchildren, Erin Winge and her husband, Christopher, Collin Donald Smith, Elizabeth Ashe Riddle, and James Markley Riddle; his three great-grandchildren, Christopher Winge, Hunter Winge, and Noah Winge; his sister, Barbara Rupert of Charleston, SC; and his brother, Henry Rhett "Rusty" Riddle of Charleston, SC.
