John Linwood Rich

John Linwood Rich, Sr., 90, of Hanahan, SC, died Friday, November 24, 2017. His funeral service will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. A private interment with military honors will be at Bethany Cemetery at a later date.

John was born March 1, 1927 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Charles S. Rich and the late Dora Idella Bonham Rich. He served in the Navy during WWII and was on the beaches at Normandy on D-Day. John retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and also from Bethany Cemetery as a superintendent. He was a member of American Legion Post 112.

He is survived by four children: Janice Rich Coli, John L. Rich, Jr., Charles Stephen Rich, and Mary Margaret Rich Matthews; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Hall Rich, daughter, Joan Kay Rich, six brothers and three sisters.
