John Edward “Jack” Platt of Lexington, SC entered into eternal rest the morning of August 27, 2023. A joint memorial service for Jack and his beloved wife, Kitty, will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3:30 P.M. He was predeceased by his wife, Kitty, of 70 years whom passed away on July 27, 2023. The service will be held at Stuhr Funeral Home, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, SC. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 2:30 P.M. Mr. Platt’s internment will be at Carolina Memorial Gardens during a private ceremony. 

Mr. Platt was born on October 21, 1932, in Charleston, SC, the son of Benjamin B. and Margaret A. Platt. He attended Charleston area schools and graduated from Murray Vocational School prior to service in the Navy and a 44 year career at the Charleston Post-Courier. He is survived by two daughters, Debra Ann Ellis (Rodney) of Sumter, SC and Linda Denise Matthews (James Jr.) of Gilbert, SC, four grandchildren: Tara Yates of Rochester, NY, Mary Vosburgh of Hanahan, SC, Millie Norton of Sumter, SC and James “Trey” Matthews, III of Columbia, SC and five great grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in his name be sent to Three Oaks Foundation (Hospice Group), 717 N. Harwood Street, Suite 550, Dallas, TX 75201.
