John Auther Pettit

John Auther Pettit, 47, of Charleston, SC, husband of Rose Mary Pettit, entered into eternal rest Monday, March 31, 2014. His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Palmetto Community Church, 1965 Bees Ferry Road at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

John was born August 15, 1966 in Wheeling, WV, son of Herbert Pettit and Barbara Smith Pettit. He was a loving husband, father and a devoted grandfather. He was a sub-contractor in the construction business.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Pettit of Charleston, SC; three step-daughters, Gladys Yeargain (Robert) of James Island, SC, Gertie Bell VonSteenburgh (Mike) of Moncks Corner, SC, and Bobbie Jo Early (Brian) of Ravenel, SC; a sister, Bobbie J. Carnley of WV; four brothers, Herb Pettit, Jr. of GA, Anthony Pettit of FL, James Edward Pettit, II of FL, and Robert Dwayne Pettit of Charleston, SC; and nine grandchildren, Gavin, Michael, Alexis, Kenny, Destiny, Caleb, Brian, Adrian and Halie.
