John Lowell Payne

John Lowell Payne, 72, husband of Pamela Riley Payne, of Isle of Palms, SC, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 21, 2011 in the Hospice Center of Hospice of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant. The relatives and friends of John Payne are invited to attend his Memorial Service with military honors on Wednesday, May 25, 2011at 3:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR. INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. 

Mr. Payne was born December 27, 1938 in Columbia, SC, son of the late Hercules Bowman Payne and Mary Sue Hutto Payne Schumpert.  He graduated from Eau Claire High School.  He also owned and operated John Payne Trucking Company and was a veteran of the US Navy.

 He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pamela Riley Payne of Isle of Palms, SC; two daughters, Lori Murray (Matt) of Peachtree City, GA and Angela Corbett (Kevin) of Cumming, GA; three step-children, Sherry Woods (Ray) of Barnwell, SC, Rick Knopf of Union, SC and Robyn Hills (Ricky) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Cindy Leone of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren, Lucy Tucker, Shane Corbett (Morgan) and Kelly Corbett, Nick and Brandis Woods, Riley and Hollyn Belle Hills; nephews, Bill Payne and Joey Leone; great-nieces, Ashley and Taylor Payne.  He was preceded in death by a brother, David Payne. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
