John Robert Nix, 97, of North Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Sandra Ely Nix, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 15, 2025. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2025 Bees Ferry Rd., at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W Dunbar Rd., West Columbia, SC, at 3:30pm.

John was born December 10, 1927 in Barnwell County, South Carolina, son of the late Ottie Breland Nix and Corry Chitty Nix. He was the third child of 7 siblings and was reared in a loving family of hard work and Christian discipline. He joined the army in 1946. John was a man of strong faith that served his Lord and Church throughout his entire life. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Elaine Bennett and Kaye Craft (Roland) of Lexington, SC; two sons, Gary Ely (Sherri), and Steven Ely (Sheila) of Charleston SC; grandchildren, Laure Horn (Jimmy), Trey Craft ( Leann), Tanner Craft (Kelsey), Krista Ely, Kasey Ely (Ben), Keenan Ely, Jackson Ely; and 10 great grandchildren. He has one surviving sister, Joyce Baxley of Beach Island, SC; and one brother, Gene Nix (Nell) of Elko, SC.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Birt Nix; sister, Effie Mae Delk; and brothers, David Nix, Clifford Nix, Russell Nix.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church, 2014 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
