John Redmond Mixon

Entered into eternal rest on the evening of March 3, 2011, John Redmond Mixon, Jr., husband of Reta Joann Wolford Mixon.  Residence, Charleston, South Carolina.  The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Mixon, Jr. are invited to attend the funeral services of the former on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11 am at Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL Sunday from 5 until 7 pm.

Mr. Mixon was born in Macedonia, South Carolina on December 18, 1937 to the late John Redmond Mixon and the late Dorothy Ernestine Murphy Gaskins.  He was a General Contractor and Drywall Contractor and was a member of Grace on the Ashley Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Joann Mixon of Charleston; his stepfather, Sidney Gaskins of Charleston; his children, Holly Lea Boynton and husband (Robert) of Augusta, GA, Ronnie and his wife (Beth) Mixon of Randleman, NC, Sonya Jon Dennis and her husband (Rhett) of Charleston; five grandchildren, Aleyna Rose Dennis, Joshua Elliot Mixon, David F. Beasley, Jr., John Paul Beasley, and Erin Bethany Mixon; two brothers, Robert Gaskins of Ohio and Gerald Mixon of Bethera, SC; and a sister, Joyce Gaskins of Huger, SC.  Mr. Mixon was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Gaskins.
