John Everett Meakem

June 8, 1952 — April 15, 2020

John Everett Meakem, 67, of Johns Island, South Carolina, husband of Alina Schwiep entered into eternal rest Tuesday, April 15, 2020. His Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 in St. John's Parish Churchyard, 3673 Maybank Highway at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

John was born June 8, 1952 in Willimantic, Connecticut, son of the late Francis Meakem and Barbara Humphrey Meakem. He was a proud Marine Corp Veteran and retired Electrical Wholesalers supervisor, and Political Science Major. His passion was political science and loved a good debate. He loved to read, workout and watch sports. John enjoyed spending time with his family and his pets. John was a member of St. Johns Parish Church.

He is survived by his wife, Alina Schwiep of Johns Island, SC; daughter, Dorothy Pearl Lewis of Middletown, CT: son, Earl Meakem and daughter, Katherine Meakem both of AZ; four grandchildren, Carlos John Cottrell (Ironeida), Luis A. Diaz, Tiarra J. Lewis, Noah Meakem and great-grandchild, Ayla Pamela Cottrell; two brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675.
