John Michael McLaughlin, 67, of Johns Island, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Friday, August 10, 2012. A memorial service will be held at a time and day to be announced in the Chapel at St. Francis Hospital. Burial will be at a later date in Greensburg, Indiana. Arrangements by J. Michael was born May 16, 1945 in Greensburg, Indiana, a son of the late James Charles McLaughlin and the late Mary Elizabeth Link McLaughlin. He was a free lance writer and author. Mr. McLaughlin was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. He was an active member of the Charleston Preservation Society, the Historical Society and Drayton Hall.

He is survived by his two sisters, Elizabeth Jane Moll of Greensburg, IN and Mary Ann Beams of Phoenix, AZ; an aunt, Mary Frances Brunsdon of Coppell, TX; four nephews; a niece; and several cousins.
