John Victor Mahala, Jr., 64, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012. The relatives and friends of John Mahala, Jr. are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Christ Our King Catholic Church at 12:00 noon. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will receive friends at the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 10:00 until 11:15 am.
John was born on September 29, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late John Victor Mahala, Sr. and Janie Stella Polkowska. He served in the United States Army Reserve. John earned his undergraduate degree from Drexel University, and his Master of Science degree from Stanford University. For over 30 years he enjoyed a successful career with Alcatel-Lucent, serving in the areas of engineering, product management, sales, and marketing. He relocated from Maryland to Mt. Pleasant in 2004, where he joined Rivertowne Country Club and the Missing Links Golf Group. He loved to travel, visiting China, Eastern Europe, Egypt, Ireland, and of course, Scotland, his favorite golf destination.
He is survived by his loving daughter Candice J. Mahala and her partner, Matthew Schulz of Alexandria, VA; two sisters, Judy Sawitski of Quakertown, PA and Denise Yanni of Warminster, PA.
