John Charles Lowery, lovingly known as Johnny, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, at the age of 60. Born with cerebral palsy, Johnny lived a life that was defined not by limitations, but by love, laughter, and a spirit that touched everyone who knew him.
Johnny was the beloved son of Robert and Joanne Lowery, who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Susan Gilmer, and was a cherished uncle to Jessica Harvey and Christian Gilmer. His cousin Sheryl Fletcher (Charlie) provided him with incredible care and kindness after the passing of his parents, ensuring that Johnny always felt loved and safe. For this, the family will be forever grateful.
Johnny had a contagious sense of humor that brought joy into every room he entered. He loved toy guns and swords, and his imagination could turn any day into an adventure. Johnny was a huge fan of Scooby-Doo and Walker Texas Ranger, often laughing and getting lost in the excitement of his favorite shows.
Johnny’s life was filled with moments of joy, silliness, and quiet strength, and he taught everyone around him about unconditional love and resilience. Though he faced challenges, Johnny’s spirit remained unbreakable, and he will be remembered for the light he brought into our lives and the laughter he shared so freely.
His family and friends will miss him dearly but find comfort in knowing that Johnny is now at peace, reunited with his parents, and watching over us with that same mischievous smile we all loved so much.
A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 1:00 pm. Entombment will follow in the Plantation Memorial Gardens where family and friends are invited to share memories, laughter, and stories in honor of a life well-lived.
