John Comar
Langley, Jr.
February 2, 1940 – June 7, 2026
John Comar Langley, Jr. (86) of Charleston, South Carolina entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 7, 2026. He was married to the love of his life, Rebecca Reagan Langley for 67 years.
John was the son of the late John Comar Langley, Sr. and the late Louise Dandridge Langley. A lifelong Charleston resident, John attended Charleston County Schools and developed a passion for working with his hands. If something was broken or needed tuning, you did not need to look far. You picked up the phone and called John. His talents and skills led him to a professional career as a contractor for almost 50 years. He built many homes on James Island and the Charleston area. Many friends and families reached out to John for home renovations as their families grew. Known for his professionalism and integrity, he saw Charleston grow from a small town in the 1940’s to the larger city it is today and he took pride in the small part he played with home construction.
Beyond his professional life, John was an avid bowler and enjoyed time spent with friends in the bowling alley and traveling to bowling tournaments. An active member of the Charleston Amateur Radio Society, John helped establish the Civil Communications Room on the USS Yorktown when it was permanently docked in Charleston Harbor. His Ham radio hobby gave John the opportunity to communicate with people around the world and the years spent coordinating the Charleston Ham Fest was a highlight for him. John will miss the friends he made as an active member of the Elks Club and the Charleston Rifle Club.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by two sons: Steve Langley of Charleston, SC; Larry Langley (Catherine) of Charlotte, NC along with grandchildren Lauren and Stewart Langley also of Charlotte, NC.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00am, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.
The family would like to acknowledge the Lowcountry Community Hospice House for the Outstanding Care.
