John O'Leary Koach, beloved and cherished son, brother, uncle, and godfather passed away on November 26 in his sleep at his home in Charleston, SC. John was 35.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Jennifer Koach; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Justine and Rob Autry, Jessica and Jeff Buxton, Jocelyne Koach Terilli; and his nieces and nephews, Swain Autry (15), Jackson Autry (14), Serena Autry (3), Jack Joseph Terilli (6), Owen Terilli (5), Genevieve Terilli (3), Morgan Buxton (2) and Layla Buxton (2). He is also survived by his grandmother Jane Brown and his godmother Jackie Edwards as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
John was a caring and compassionate soul who cherished his family and lived a life full of adventure. Born in North Carolina, John grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, eventually becoming a dual Swiss-American citizen.
His loving nature was evident in his passion for caring for animals and working with children, volunteering at an orphanage in Sudan and working as a preschool teacher. His adventurous spirit was happiest skiing in the Swiss Alps, especially while attending Aiglon College.
After travelling the world, he returned to Charleston and got his pilot license. John also had a love for acting, playing video games with his nephews, organizing games with his family, and helping his mother with her art.
To know him is to love him. John will be greatly missed, but he will never be forgotten.
