John Daniel "Danny" Knight

John Daniel "Danny" Knight, 72, of Mount Pleasant, SC passed away Sunday April 26, 2015 surrounded by his family and friends. The celebration of his life will be held at First United Methodist Church, 12 21st Avenue., Isle of Palms, SC on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Danny was born December 22, 1942 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Benjamin Way Knight and the late Norma Ruth Knight. He earned the Mark Clark Award 2 years in a row at the Citadel Military College Summer Camp and played football for Berkeley High School. He then graduated from Gordon Military College and also attended Georgia Southern University. He served in the National Guard Reserves for 6 years. Danny was retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company after 22 years and recently worked as a Golf Ranger/Starter at the Patriots Point Links Course. He never met a stranger and was a professional conversationalist. He loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer and fisherman. With his love of food, you could always find him swapping recipes or cooking for family and friends. Danny was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather "Bo" and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sue; two daughters: Suzy Pistey (Shawn) of Charleston, SC; and Kari Winn (Chris) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two brothers: Larry Knight (Beverly) of Summerville, SC; and brother Bud Knight (Cheryl) of Savannah, GA; a sister-in-law Dianne Minus (Dickie) of St. George, SC; three grandchildren: Addie, Delaney and Keegan; and several nieces and nephews.
