John Pinckney Kelly Jenkins

John Pinckney Kelly Jenkins, 74, of Huger, South Carolina, husband of Muriel Elizabeth Bodiford Jenkins entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his home. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 2:00 pm.  Interment will follow on the Jenkins' family property. The family will receive friends Monday, May 2, 2022, in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 

Kelly was born October 16, 1947, in Sumter, South Carolina, son of the late Jacob William Jenkins and Sarah Kelly Jenkins.  A graduate of The Citadel, he earned his master's degree from the University of Virginia. His long and successful career in banking began with C&S Bank and continued until retirement as a vice president with Nations Bank. He was responsible for financing auto and RV dealerships in the southeast coastal area and marketing in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Kelly was active in community affairs as past president and chairman for Ducks Unlimited in Sumter County and also as regional chairman. He belonged to the Sumter Jaycees and the Horry County Citadel Club. Kelly supported Sertoma, was a Mason (Etiwan Lodge), and served on the Shrine Directors Staff. He will be remembered for his honesty and integrity.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Muriel B. Jenkins of Huger, SC; children, Jacob William Jenkins, II of Beaufort, SC and Elizabeth "Hi-Dee" Covington Jenkins (Eddie Hughes) of Huger, SC; grandchild, Kelly Engracia Davis of Huger, SC; and niece, Victoria Marivittori Griffin of Sumter, SC.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, William David Jenkins, James Roberts Jenkins and Margaret Lynwood Moczydlowski.
