John "Jack" Thomas Gleason, Jr.

May 19, 1925 — September 4, 2016

John "Jack" Thomas Gleason, Jr., 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Jennie Cooler Gleason died Sunday, September 4, 2016. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King Street at 1:00 pm. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 12:00 pm until time of the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Jack was born May 19, 1925 on Staten Island, New York, son of the late John Thomas Gleason and the late Mabel McKeever Gleason. He served in the United States Marines during World War II and was a Sales Manager in the automotive industry.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jennie Gleason of Daniel Island, SC; one son, John Thomas Gleason, III and his wife, Angela, of Mount Pleasant, SC; four daughters, Rosemary Plumblee and her husband, Tom, of Columbia, SC, Retta Leopold and her husband, Lowell, of Wando, SC, Kathleen Ward and her husband Tobey, of Florence, SC, and Brenda Marcil of Chelmsford, MA; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edward Marcil.
