John Phillip Hurcomb, III, 57, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Sherri Clark Hurcomb entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 28, 2019. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
John was born August 2, 1961 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of the late John Phillip Hurcomb, Jr. and Alma Hutto Hurcomb. He graduated from Middleton High School class of 1979 and the South Carolina Fire Academy. He was a retired Senior Captain with the St. Andrews Fire Department and was a mason. He was a Christian man who was gifted with a keen sense of humor who also loved fishing and collecting guns.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri Clark Hurcomb of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Ashley Hurcomb Ferrell (Gregory) of Charleston, SC, Chelsie Hurcomb Wells (Logan Rich) of Waynesville, NC; son, John "Chad" Phillip Chadwick Hurcomb, IV (Katharine Matthews) of Daniel Island, SC; seven grandchildren, Landen Allen Ferrell, Coleman Dean Wells, Bristol Wells, Weston Moffat, Patrick Moffat, Remington Hurcomb, John Hurcomb; two sisters, Cheryl O'Brien of Charleston, SC, Linda Simmons (Ricky) of Hollywood, SC; brother, Barry Hurcomb of Charleston, SC, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sweet Gracie.
