John "Doc" David Hill, Jr., 91, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Madeline Hindmarsh Hill passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015. His Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
Doc was born May 19, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late John David Hill, Sr. and Florence Hill. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Doc served his country for thirty years as a Submariner hospital corpsman. He rounded out his career as an Agent with Prudential Insurance. In his younger years, he was very involved with Boy Scouting and then later was very active with the Sub Vets.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Madeline Hindmarsh Hill of Mount Pleasant, SC; his children, Madeleine LaRaviere of Ladson, SC, John D. Hill III of Summerville, SC, and Darryl Lee Hill of Summerville, SC; his grandchildren, Pamela Sorenson, Curtis Elmore, Jr., Stephanie Poston, Erica LaRaviere, Trapper Hill, Rachel Hill, Ashley Hill, and David Hill; and his great-grandchildren, Kristie, Dylan, Dalton, Hannah, Emily, Amber, and Adeline. For Doc, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of his life.
