John Frederick Hicks

John Frederick Hicks, 89, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Janell Peeples Hicks entered into eternal rest Friday, October 31, 2025. His graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.

John was born November 8, 1935 in West Carthage, New York, son of John Henry Hicks and Ruby Burnell Hicks. He was a machinist at Westvaco.

John loved flying and owned his own plane. He also enjoyed skating and competed in ballroom skating. John owned the skating rink in Hanahan for many years.

John is survived by his son, John Blake Hicks (Tara) of Goose Creek; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; six siblings; and many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and two siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
