He and Carolyn were married in June of 1967. Upon leaving the Army, he joined the JC Penney Co as a management trainee. John was a very outgoing, generous man. He loved his family beyond measure and was always ready to help in any way. His grandchildren gave him special pleasure and he loved teasing them. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Rivertowne CC especially his golf group, The Missing Links, but his favorite foursomes were made up of his sons, grandsons, son-in-law and brother-in-law. John always had a smile on his face and a joke at the ready. He loved to entertain; Sunday supper with the family was his favorite day of the week. He also loved Notre Dame and was a huge fan of every team and every endeavor of the school.
